On March 30, the final of the 2024 International College(IC) Teachers' Teaching Skill Competition kicked off as scheduled in Building 4 of Zhangzhou Campus. Wang Ruojie, head of the English teaching and research group presided over the competition, and all the teachers were present to observe and learn.
Dean Tao Tao made a speech before the competition. He first expressed his gratitude to the Union and staff of IC who organized and arranged the competition carefully on behalf of the college, and fully affirmed that every teacher actively attended to learn and exchange. He said that International College, as a teaching-oriented college, has been attaching great importance to the improvement of teaching quality and the effectiveness of talent training for more than 10 years. In the past two years, the teaching competition of the college has been adjusted according to the needs of running the college, and the evaluation method close to the actual teaching has achieved good results. He hopes that every teacher can keep in mind the IC's positioning, return to the original intention, clarify the core objectives and tasks of teaching, attach great importance to the importance of teaching quality in daily teaching practice, constantly change the teaching management concept, comprehensively improve IC's teaching level with high standards and strict requirements, train more excellent students, and help them realize their dream of studying abroad.
The preliminary round of the teaching competition mainly examines teachers from three aspects: student attendance, actual classroom attendance and student performance. The listening group composed of the leaders of the college, the leaders of each teaching and research group and the award-winning teachers of the school competitions over the years entered the actual classrooms of 32 participating teachers to listen to the lectures, and evaluated the teaching content, teaching organization, teaching language and teaching style, course ideology and politics, etc., combined with the students' attendance and grades, and selected 15 young teachers to be shortlisted for the finals.
The finals are divided into two rounds: semi-finals and finals. The shortlisted teachers were divided into three groups to participate in the semi-finals, and after fierce competition, 6 young teachers finally stood out and successfully advanced to the finals.
According to the standards of the school competition, each contestant will be evaluated in terms of teaching content, teaching organization, teaching language and teaching style, and teaching characteristics through 20-minute classroom fragment teaching and the design of teaching plans. In the competition, each teacher brought their teaching skills to the table, exquisite and unique classroom design, vivid and interesting teaching content, fluent and authentic English/Japanese expression, novel and unique teaching methods, and beautiful handwriting...... It not only shows the superb teaching skills of the teachers, but also fully demonstrates the demeanor of the young teachers of the college. After nearly 3 hours of wonderful competition, Wang Roujie and Zeng Juhua finally conquered the judges with their vivid and rich teaching content, elaborate teaching design and excellent foreign language proficiency, and won the special prize of this competition, Tang Feng won the first prize, Yan Sa won the second prize, Wang Duanqin and Wang Chaoting won the third prize.
Combined with the actual teaching practice of the college, this teaching competition not only showed the best teaching style of young teachers, but also showed the characteristics of IC, providing a platform for teachers to show their talents, promote each other and improve together. IC will also take this opportunity to closely focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, give full play to the exemplary and leading role of excellent teachers, effectively promote the transformation of competition results, and continuously improve the quality of education and teaching and the level of talent training.
