Michael, director of international programs of Dublin Business School, and Dong Jin, China representative, visited International College on 17th November to have a meeting with Prof. Zheng Tongtao, dean of International College and Huang Guanhua, office director to discuss several issues such as teaching details on cooperative programs of honor bachelor degree in finance and accounting and sending teaching staff to cooperative universities. The program is the XMU’s first international educational program in bachelor level, officially approved by Ministry of Education. It aims to create mutually approved curriculum, teaching plan and pattern and develop a teaching system with Chinese and foreign characteristics, which requires XMU needs to adopt the undergraduate curriculum, teaching plan and pattern of Dublin Business School, and combine the discipline advantage of XMU. Prof. Zheng believes that the cooperative pattern will become the model of other universities who would like to develop cooperative programs.

Michael said that after their exploration in the past few years, the Dublin Business School had great confidence in the cooperative programs and believed the programs would become better in the future. He also hopes that they can gradually set up ACCA training center in China in the coming future. Michael said he looked forward to XMU delegation’s visit to Dublin Business School in December.

Dublin Business School (DBS) incorporating Portobello College is the largest independent college in Ireland, acting the leading role in the fields of accounting education and business. The school has 30-year experience in financial accounting education, awarded the highest level of education partner by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). In the long-term close cooperation with ACCA, Dublin Business School has accumulated a wealth of training experience as well as excellent teaching team, which will provide a good international platform for students. Students who get bachelor degree at Dublin business school will have right to exempt nine examinations of ACCA.

Students who study in this program can finish the first three-year study in XMU, and go for DBS to complete the last year’s courses. After they graduate, they can get the undergraduate diploma and degree certificate of accounting or finance offered by XMU and honor bachelor degree offered by DBS. The second choice is students can choose to stay in XMU to finish the four-year courses and get the undergraduate diploma and degree certificate of accounting or finance offered by XMU. The teaching language of their courses will be bilingual (Chinese and English), and some of them need to be taught in only English.

The project has now begun to accept the major transfer applications of the 2010 freshmen, and the deadline is 25th December. The final result will be published on the webpage of International College.
