Recently, the Ministry of Education approved the accounting and finance undergraduate education programs co-organized by Xiamen University and Dublin Business School. The project is the first undergraduate level international education project in our school officially approved by the Ministry of Education. The project officially recruited students from the first-batch students in the country this year, and the enrollment majors are accounting and finance, including students of arts and science. This year, the first-batch students are recruited from the freshmen in Xiamen University in 2010, recruiting 60 students separately from accounting and finance major .
The project students can study in Xiamen University for four years, and get undergraduate diploma and degree certificate of Xiamen University in accounting or finance. The students can also choose to study undergraduate courses in Xiamen University for three years and in Dublin Business School for the final year to get undergraduate diploma and degree certificate of Xiamen University in accounting or finance and the honored bachelor degree certificate of Dublin Business School.
The project uses the curriculum system that determined jointly by Xiamen University and Dublin Business School.Teaching staff are shared by Xiamen University and Dublin Business School where Dublin Business School offers a third of the teachers, and the rest borne by the Xiamen International College. Currently, the International College has more than 40 staff members, of which 20% are foreign teachers from Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Australia, etc.; and 90% of the local teachers have overseas study or work background and obtain the foreign university degree.
In more than five years of development, the International College has accumulated rich experience in Cooperative Education, and sets up varieties of programs for students of different levels. The International College has jointly run business management undergraduate, art and design undergraduate and education master programs with the world's famous Universities, such as London University and the University of Southampton, and jointly run management CSCSE-SQA program with Reims Management School in France, as well as launch for CSCSE-SQA, the Sino-Japan undergraduate, American undergraduate matriculation, undergraduate matriculation, Pre-Masters and many other programs.
So far, the International College has trained a batch of outstanding students. More than 400 previous graduates went to the partner universities in the UK, USA, France, Japan, Australia and other countries to continue their studies. The graduates of Education Master Program all successfully promoted to Master of the University of Southampton, and the students of 2008 have already received master's degree from the university, including one student who chose to stay at Southampton University to pursue a doctorate. Zihan Zhang, students of 2006 CSCSE-SQA Program has received a bachelor's degree at the University of Hull, UK, and successfully applied for Master courses in International Finance Major in the University of Glasgow. The university was founded in 1451 (the equivalent of mid-Ming Dynasty), ranking in the top twenty of the UK Colleges, and its accounting and finance ranking seventh in the UK.
In many years of educational practice, the International College always adhering to the purpose of “developing the education and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries,” combines the western philosophy of education and teaching methods with the specific circumstances of Chinese students, and gain success in Sino-foreign cooperative education.
