June 5, hosted by the International College of Xiamen University, co-organized by Zhangzhou Campus Student Union, Malata Garden Xiamen, Fujian Yake Food Company, domestic competition of the first International English Talent show was heldon the second floor of lecture hall in the main building of Zhangzhou Campus of Xiamen University. LvZixuan, Deputy Dean of the International College, the Communist Youth League secretary Liu Wanyu and all teachers were invited to attend. Liu, Adam Moran, English group teacher Xu Wenyan, and the professional group teachers Yang Shuai were the judges.
The competition was divided into two parts, includingindividual speech and collective drama presentations. Each class presented a drama and selected one student to speak. The top three were selected from the speech contest, the Best Speech Award, the Best Stage Performance Award, Best Choice Award from the collective dramas and first two comprehensive ranking of the best classes award were given the opportunity to participate in the outside college tournament tickets.
Applause and lively atmosphere were at the scene. The first part was individual speech to Young in the title, divided into two sections, including limit speech and judges questioning. 18 contestants competing against a unique perspective of Young, sharing with the teachers and the classmates. Rich in content, fluency in language, all contestants showed strong resilience to obtain the recognition of judges and audience.
After the individual speeches, collective dramaswere on stage. In this part student life in my eyes --Being an Oversea Student was the title, to show the culture shock and interesting life after students experiencing studying abroad. Actors’ language was humorous and the story was set creative; laughter and cheers continued.
The game lasted nearly four hours. Ultimately, Huang Hui from the 2011 HND FS scored 89.8, being the first of individual speech part, Cheng Haitang from 2011 DublinAccounting Class 1 and Zhou Zhen from 2012 London Class were the second and third in a nose difference; He Han from 2012 Dublin Accounting Class 1 and Wang Yiming from 2011 Dublin Finance Class 2attained Best Speech Award and Best Stage Performance Award, respectively; As to collective drama part, through Wechat voting, 2011 Financial Class 2 won the Best Popularity Drama Award ; 2012 London Class 2 ranked the first overall performance and won the Best Class Award.
The event aimed to mobilize the students’enthusiasm for learning English, enrich students' extracurricular lives, and strive to make each student involved. It was reported that the outside college tournament would be held in late June, which would be divided into preliminaries, semi-finals and finals. Then contestants from both Xiamen University and other universities wouldcompete for 5000 RMB champion Award.
