At the beginning of the new semester, affected by the epidemic, the first and second weeks of the fall semester (September 12-25) of the 2021-2022 school year of the International College have been fully converted to online teaching.

In the face of the sudden epidemic, the faculty and staff of the whole International College, according to the epidemic prevention and control requirements and school notifications, actively carried out online teaching activities such as online teaching and learning to ensure the teaching progress and teaching quality, and realize the "Suspend offline classes, non-stop teaching and learning". International College Independent Program has a total of 112 classes and 80 courses. The types of courses include professional courses, English courses, Japanese courses, art courses, and ideological and political courses. A total of 239 courses were started in the first week, with 10,428 students learning online, 100% started normally.

On September 13, the college held an epidemic prevention and control meeting. At the meeting, Dean Tao as a professor of cell biology, pointed out that this round of the epidemic was severe from his own professional virology background analysis, and emphasized that all teachers and students should strictly follow the school's epidemic prevention and control requirements, wear masks, and take personal protection. Effectively improve the quality of online teaching, strengthen supervision, and ensure student attendance. In order to ensure the quality of online teaching to the greatest extent, teachers come up with "big tricks" for online courses. Teacher Tang Feng, who teaches the course "Introduction to Business Law", said, "My first class is about ‘what is law ’". The college actively does a good job in building groups for online courses. Each class has QQ groups and WeChat groups to ensure that 100% of students enter the group with real names. Before the class, the teacher will upload the electronic version of the course materials in the group or the conference platform to facilitate students' learning. Some teachers will encourage students to turn on the microphone or use the chat box/barrage to interact, and some teachers will also use the voting function of Tencent Conference to collect student feedback in real time. For relatively introverted students, teachers encouraged them to give real-time feedback through the "private chat" function of the chat box. Teachers will better follow up on students’ classroom learning effects through chat records after class, and adjust the progress or arrange personal counseling.

In the first week, the college launched a series of online briefings on the college’s teaching management system, academic planning for various projects, English teaching and admission standards, as well as a series of online presentations. And also a lecture "Mental Health Tips for freshmen" by Huang Fusheng, deputy director of the Psychological Counseling and Education Center of Xiamen University helps freshmen to start their college life smoothly.

Under the epidemic situation, students staying in the dormitory every day may experience some psychological discomfort. The college arranged the class counsellors to communicate with students via telephone, QQ, WeChat, etc., to understand everyone's study and living conditions, and to solve students' psychological confusion. Twice a week tutoring by teachers in class is also converted to "cloud". Through Tencent conferences and QQ groups, teachers are regularly waiting in the "cloud" to carry out online teaching and guidance, answering questions and solving problems for students in need, and at the same time paying attention to students with learning difficulties, and care and guide them timely. Although teachers cannot communicate face-to-face with students, teachers also pass on their care to them through online communication. Set up "deputy head teacher", track students' online learning
