Alumni:Wu Jiaying, attended Longyan No.1 high school and then entered the International College of Xiamen University in 2008, majoring in accounting. In 2011, she pursued her last-year bachelor degree in De Montfort University, Britian with the IELTS score of 7.
Hi, dear fellow students. I am Wu Jiaying, currently being through my final year of bachelor in De Montfort University. Recalling these five months, I think, the biggest is that students must adhere to go abroad, don't give up halfway, because the overseas experience will profoundly influence your entire life, especially on your view of life and values. England has plenty of beautiful sights and the travel expense is affordable but studying here is really a great chance to gain experience.
Speaking of the study, everyone should make great efforts to improve English so it will be much easier for you to communicate with the local in England. In terms of IELTS exam, I think vocabulary and massive reading is very vital. Therefore, I do suggest everyone should make good use of the IELTS training opportunity that is offered by the International College. The effect is obvious. Doing exercises under the guidance of teachers is more effective than practice blindly.
Studying abroad is much harder than studying in domestic universities. The biggest difference is that foreign universities require us to list out all the references in order to make sure the article is not plagiaristic. Therefore, learning to master the library and database is necessary and crucial. The teachers of the International College are strict with our projects and essays which make us much easier to get used to studying abroad. I do hope everyone is able to strictly follow the teachers' instructions during the study in the international college since all the skills are useful.
