Li Manlin 06 grade student of Sino-foreign cooperative program

entered the University of the West of England, Bristol to pursue her last-year bachelor degree, majoring in Finance

During the time in university, I have acquired a lot of professional skills and learnt how to keep a positive attitude towards the study which is greatly helpful for my life. In school, I worked very hard and achieved excellent results. In class, I learned the skills of presentation and teamwork. In addition, I also learned how to communicate and cooperate with group members to complete the task in an efficient and time-saving way. In the last year of study in University of the West of England, I am able to interpret the academic by using dialectical analysis. I was selected as a team leader of Context Accounting discipline, which improved my teamwork, time management, and leadership skills. I like to work with students from different countries, and enjoy the time when we work together. However, I am able to complete the task independently as well.

I participated in two volunteer activities organized by the University of the West of England. One is to weed out the abandoned garden and the other one is to clean up the Weston beach. These activities greatly enhance my ability to communicate and exchange. I like to study new things. Listening to classical music and going to the gym are my usual ways to relieve stress.

I love the major of Accounting and Finance very much thus I am ready to enter for the ACCA qualification certificate. My next plan is to complete a master's degree and gain my working experience. After graduation, I want to return to China and contribute to the society with all the professional knowledge and skills I have learned in the UK.

entered the University of Hull to pursue her last-year bachelor degree, majoring in Trade

Time flies, I have studied in the UK for seven months and it is complicated when I recall the days I spent there.

After coming to the UK, my greatest feeling is the cultural differences. For example, the stores and supermarkets are usually opened until 12 o’clock and closed at 4 or 5 o’clock.

Travelling Here is very convenient, no matter if you just have a short trip in the United Kingdom or travel to the neighboring countries. Most of the cities of UK are small so that you can just take a train to go as long as you won’t get lost. The British people are polite and patient, some of them will even directly lead the way.

The class timetable in here is quite different. Earliest class in the morning approximately starts at  9 o’clock and there is no lunch break which means you have to well manage your own time. In the University of Hull, you have more time for self-study and the only way to overcome language barriers is that you should try hard to enhance the communication with others.

Because of high living expense in the UK, we always compare the prices with the domestic prices and struggle for a while before we buy something. After some time, we decide to make a purchase without hesitation. In the UK, you have to take care of yourself and handle everything alone including cooking.

Generally speaking, life is quite simple in the UK and most of the time is happy. Of course, setbacks are inevitable as long as you enable to calmly face them.

Wu Haihong  06 grade student of Sino-foreign cooperative program

entered the De Montfort University  to pursue her last-year bachelor degree, majoring in Finance

Unconsciously went abroad for almost a year, the sense of curiosity, longing and strangeness all disappeared. From the very first day until now, I have been through a lot. Looking back on it, it can be considered a way of learning. The first time I opened an account in the back, I was worried about the communication. The one-month English training course is actually one of the greatest opportunities to make foreign friends. Once you start your study in the university, there are few chances to make foreign friends. My university is good, they offer a lots of services to us. You can go to Student Service Centre to consult the registration in police station and NI number application for working. However, I think most of the universities offer student service to help students solve the problems. In life, everything will be ok except for the loneliness.

I felt a little bit difficult at the beginning of class because of the local accent therefore I attended every class and listened to BBC radio every night before sleep. After a while, I am able to take notes on the handouts. There are no textbooks or materials available to us (except that some teachers will send), almost all of the lecture materials has to be printed by ourselves. Many British people enable to finish their assignments very quickly but we cannot do this as a foreign student. We have to prepare our assignments in advance to get a high score. The teachers here are very responsible and strict. They have particular software to identify similarities. If your paper is similar with other article over 30%-40% t and you will be in trouble.

Many of the school's activities are worth attending. I used to participate in a research with my friend and offer some advices. As a reward, we earn 15 pounds. Actually it is also a good chance to practice spoken English. We even had the chance to meet the mayor and his wife, and take a picture with them. In general, participating in some activities will greatly benefit us.

Zeng Peng  06 grade student of Sino-foreign cooperative program

entered the Middlesex University London to pursue his last-year bachelor degree, majoring in Trade

I have been in England for 8 months and already got used to the life here. The pace of life in the UK is slow. Take an example, it cost us 3 months to get our network done and we felt which made us feel so bad. I rent a house with my friend outside the school and there are some advantages and disadvantages. Obviously, living with a friend is a way to save money. Secondly, life is more convenient. The kitchen is equipped with stoves, ovens, microwave ovens, refrigerators, washing machines. Some other houses offer the dryer. The disadvantage is that you need to prove that you don't need to pay tax as a student studying in the UK. Anyways, the agency will help you to deal with these things.

In terms of the study life in here, although sometimes I felt a little bit tired, the days spent on learning the language still made my life fulfilling. Unlike study in the International College, you have to motivate yourself to study. I did miss the life in the International College and sometimes desired to come back to the college.

Going abroad makes me feel that I've truly grown up. I need to be responsible for my choice and I am also very homesick.

Zhuang Jinglan  06 grade student of Sino-foreign cooperative program

entered the Middlesex University London to pursue her last-year bachelor degree, majoring in Accounting

I have studied in London for almost one year. Studying in such a aristocratic city. The initial excitement made me feel as if I was stepping into the clouds breathing a breeze. However, after for a while, it gradually disappeared. London is special to me. Studying abroad is not that good as I think it is, it is not bad though. Besides, most of time you will feel very lonely because of no reason. Some people say this is the cultivation of temperament, you will gradually become mature and rational. I have to say London taught me a lot!

Speaking of my study in the UK, I always felt that I didn't push myself to work harder and imagined I will be lucky just like I was in China. But I finally realized there is no luck and all you can do is working hard.
