The reception of new students in fall 2016 of the International College came toa successfulend
During August 24th-25th, approximately 400 new students in fall 2016 from all over the country came to register at the International College (IC) of Xiamen University (XMU). Another 100 students are delaying their registration until September due to the shortage of dormitory, which means the total number of IC new students will be over 500, hitting a new record.
New student reception booths were set up at both XMU Xiang’an campus and XMU Siming campus. Faculty and student volunteers were working in an orderly manner to help those first-year students complete their registration. School buses were arranged to pick the students and their parents up from Xiamen’s airport, railway station and bus hub, carrying them to the reception booths while their luggage were sent to their dormitory building directly. Once disembarked, they were welcomed by IC volunteers, who guided them through the registration process.
In the registration hall, faculty checked students’ information, informed them of the schedules after enrollment, and answered questions from students and parents, ensuring the process of registration a smooth and happy one. Meanwhile, as a tradition, complimentary canteen tickets were offered to new students and parents, as a token of the warmest welcome of IC.
Two-day’s new student reception work came to a successful end with faculty and student volunteers’ thoughtful services and new students’ cooperation. At the very beginning of a new semester, IC wishes that all new students will spare no efforts in their study and make great progress.
