At 19:30p.m. on May 3, 2016 Mini Expo was held by the International College in the café of Kun Luan Building. Mini Expo is a campus event for cultural exchanges. It provides a platform for displaying the costumes, handicraft works and food from different countries, making the students get to know each other better.
There are eight pavilions at the Expo: Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, America, Ukraine, Italy, Japan and Chinese. Each pavilion has two foreign students and one Chinese student volunteer. They displayed the traditional food from their own countries, like Kim chi fried rice, fried rice cake form Korea, Thai curry, pizza and pasta from Italy. All the students enjoyed their food trip and traditional performance at Mini Expo. The atmosphere kept warm and high.
Apart from the food, Mini Expo also showed the different culture like football in Italy, American history, Chinese knot. Each student got four votes for their favorite pavilions. Thus each pavilion tried very hard to show themselves, when they got a vote, they responded with a charming smile.
The Mini Expo has attracted many students to get involved. One of them said:” It’s really great to see so many pretty Korean girls”, and some of them cannot resist the temptation of delicious food, they cannot stop praising when eating it. And the students who were impressed by the different culture said:”Mini Expo is not only a food trip, is a rich culture trip.”
It is understood that we have over 1,800 foreign students from 86 countries study in Xiamen University, these foreign students with different cultural background add some exotic color to Xiamen University.
The successful hosting of Mini Expo gave the students more change to get access to different culture, which is good for the blending of Chinese and foreign culture and help the student broad their horizon.
