A series of Campus Day activities of International College (IC) of Xiamen University (XMU) was held in XMU Xiang’an campus on June 11, 2016, attracting the participation of more than 100 prospective students and their parents from Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Fujian.
Families arrived at IC quite early in the morning; they were raising questions that are of most concern to them, from the features and advantages of IC’s education, the curriculum for pre-departure education to the qualification of teachers, just to name a few. Teachers in charge ofpre-departure education program for overseas study, teaching affairs management, and student management and outstanding current students were invited to join the salon on pre-departure education for overseas study to answer those questions, enabling prospective students to learn about IC’s educational philosophy, curriculum setting, teachers’ qualification and student management, etc.
Following the salon, the participants were directed to different classrooms to join teaching demos of English, Japanese, Business Communication, Arts and other featured courses given by IC teachers. The demos were so funning and interactive that students got involved voluntarily. Thereafter, they went on to visit the exhibition of ten-year’s development of IC and have meal at school’s canteen. Many a family stated that a day’s tour had made them fall in love with the atmosphere and environment here.
Campus Day activities have given the participants some further information about IC’s educational philosophy and features, curriculum setting and internationalized talent cultivation concept. XMU IC iscultivating numerous brilliant graduates for world-renowned universities based on the pattern of combining excellentoverseas education resources with outstanding teaching facilities of XMU. More than 2700 students have gone to study abroad from IC, many of whom continue their postgraduate study at top universities such as University of Oxford, King's College London, Columbia University in the City of New York, the Australian National University, and the University of Melbourne. For those who return to China upon graduation, most got employed by famous financial institutions, accounting firms, multinational enterprises or public institutions.
